through Nigeria’s Got Talent and other platforms, “Airtel is committed

The first edition of the Airtel-sponsored Nigeria’s Got Talent show

[INTERVIEW] Meet former Nigerian Idol star and model ANNJAY

Lets get to know you?
My names are John Angela Chioma popularly known as Annjay, from Ohaukwu
local Government in area of Ebonyi State. i am a musician, song writer and a model.

How did the journey of music start for you?
I started singing from the Redeem Christian Church of God. then i was thirteen years old and later when i was fourteen started leading the praises and worships. from the i went to contest in Nigeria Idol season one where i dropped while the audition was still going on.from there i recorded my first song fly high and my second track which won me an award recently is Gbakodoro.

What kind of music do you play?
I am a Hip Hop, RnB and Dance Hall singer. I have i single on air titled Gbakodoro which won me an award recently and which i have performed at some a list events andhave so far shared a stage with other top Nigeria acts.

Congratulations for your award?

What does that award means to you?
It means hard work. encouraging me to work more harder like never before to achieve more of this and its also a stepping stone for my career. This is my first award so i am happy and i said thanks to city pride and voters too who voted me in.

How does it feel sharing a stage with other top Nigeria artiste?

It feels so good. i love everything about my career and i don’t have any regret. it might be challenging but i think that is the fun of it because i believe that when something is challenging to me i feel so strong and it gives me the heart to be determined and focused. Nothing good comes easy to get but by the time you are up there, its hard for you to fall down because of the solid background you have made for your self.

Your Stage performance is cool, how did you get that?
Passion and practice. When you love what you are doing and when you are not busy counting on one disappointment or the other that you have encountered so far in life you will definately get everything right. Although it feels bad when one has been disappointed but i believe that every disappointment is a blessing and at the other way rounds you don’t allow it to weigh you down and don’t give up. keep on pushing it till you get to your promise of land. Some of my colleagues that we have worked together as a journalist knows me as a strong minded person. I don’t give up easily on every step i am taking in life though i am very young but i learnt that from my parents you know. No matter the big shit any body might have given me.

What does it takes to be a good singer?
what does it take? God, talent, passion and dedication. yeah, those things.

Why do so many musicians fail in their career?
fail? well i don’t know about that because i have not failed, so i can’t be in the position to answer that question. but, i don’t think people fail in singing or in their singing career. Maybe it’s just that they are involved in other things in life. for example, some people get married and they get too much into their marriage lives or their kids with other things that take up their times. I won’t say that people fail in singing.maybe they just have much more important things like raising a family and all that.

You were a journalist before you joined the music industry, what happened?
Absolutely nothing. i love both because its journalism that gave me the fame. i started journalism at 15-16 years old because of the passion i have in writing and i am not gonna dump journalism for music and as we all know that journalism is a profession that one can practice at any stage both young and old. So its not too late for journalism but for now i want to concentrate more on my musical career and at the same time i am still a journalist. After music i will come back fully and practice journalism as a full time person again.

What message do you have in Gbakodoro?
It means alternative and fate. Many people believe there is always a way out in anything we do.Gbakodoro is a Yoruba proverb that says ti eda ko ba gba kadara, a gba kodoro.

Are you signed to any Record Label?
Not really but i have the faith that God will do it soon because that is what every artiste is always praying for.

What makes you Stand out among other female artiste?
My dressing. i love going gaga but not in a nude way. i am a model so any body should be expecting to see me in a different wears and not that i am dressing for attention but for my lovely career. some ladies are fashion conscious but i am not because i am a fashion person you know.

Do you take anything while going to perform on stage?
like what?
laughs* you know what i am talking about. like drugs or any other thing that will make you high?

No! God almighty is the brain behind my stage performances. i don’t engage my self in drugs and i don’t need to take anything before i do what i am in love with. Its nonsense to me.

How supportive are your parents in your career?
They are nice and supportive. They also support me financially with the little they can afford to give. and i have big brothers to the same father the same mother who are always there for me. I will say that i have many wonderful people around me that listens to my cry when i cry for anything except if they don’t have it instantly.

You look slim, what is the secret?
I have being a slim person since my parent gave birth to me so i don’t have any secret. all i do is to watch what i eat and the time i eat them. When God said i should grow fat, i will be fat.
I have no problem with that and i am okay with the way i look

Are you in any relationship?
yes! i am in a serious relationship with my creator and you know what that means? i mean my God in heaven.

Are you saying that its all about music, music without romance?
lets leave that for now when time comes we will talk about it. this is not the time to talk about relationship but my career first Laughs.

What is that thing we cannot finding you doing?
smoking and drinking.

We saw a pictureof you and May D posted online recently, what is your relationship with him? are you guys thinking of working together?
Must i have a relationship with May D before i take a shot with him? May D is like a big bros to me and he is also my senior colleague.

Few words to your fans?
Not just only my fans but also the people that have supported me in one way or the other i say thanks to you all. may the almighty God continue to bless you all.

Afro Pop singers, P-Square takes Invasion to Uganda this Friday

Peter and Paul Okoye, popularly known as P-Square, will continue with their Invasion of African countries this weekend with another mind-blowing concert in Uganda. It is a follow-up to their massive and sold-out concerts in Cameroun, Congo, Zimbabwe, Ghana and Rwanda.

The Nigeria-born entertainers will leave the shores of Nigeria any moment from now with their band members for the Uganda concert scheduled for Friday, 21 December. Dubbed Chop My Money Concert, it will be held at Lugogo Cricket Stadium, Kampala, Uganda.
On Thursday, 13 December, the popular twin brothers and their 12-man band members flew on a private jet to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, where they performed at the Amahoro Stadium. The concert was not just a sold-out; it has been dubbed the most successful concert in the country, with a turnover of over 100,000 fans.

On 1 December, the Game Over crooners literally set Ghana on fire at one of the country’s most successful concerts. In Harare, Zimbabwe, P-Square equally had a spectacular outing. With over 34,000 tickets sold, P-Square cemented its position as the most sought-after African music export.

This out-going year, 2012, has indeed been a year of total take-over for P-Square. Apart from their spectacular foreign collabos and deal with Universal Music, the audio and video of their new single, Alingo, is currently enjoying good reviews locally and internationally.

Why I Changed my name to Francis -Sensational Singer, Francis

Shayo Baba was his former name. He has changed his name to Francis. In this interview with Fujiipop, he reveals the reason he changes the name to Francis. He added that his fans should watch out for his new tracks, Pon D Replay and Pretty Girl.

francis pon d replay

You were once known as Shayo Baba, now you have rebranded the name to Francis, why?
In life, you need to move forward. So rebranding the name is moving forward for me. The only thing that is constant in life is changing. When a man wants to move forward, he needs to take a step. Changing my name to Francis is like taking a step higher in my musical career. So Francis is moving forward.

While you went off the scene, what were you doing?
I was back there training my self musically. I went to Peter King Music College at Badagry, Lagos. I went to enrich myself music wise. I thank God that I achieve a lot while at the college. I appreciate my fans that have been supporting me all these while. I’m moving. I can’t stop. In performing and song composition, I’m better than before.

In term of production, what are you able to gather?
I learned how to play keyboard. My vocal is now better. Even my lyric is better than before. Everything has changed about me. That is why I told you that this is rebranding era.

Currently, what are the new efforts?
As an entertainer, continuity is the best. I’m still doing music. I just droped my new singles. First track is Pon D Replay. It means that DJ should continue the music. So the DJ should play on because people want to dance. I’m giving my fans what they really want because in Nigeria people want to dance. So I’m giving them good music. I know my people would dance to my song. Nobody wants to go to club to start sleeping or dulling, people want to dance. They want to hear songs that would make them be on the dancing floor. That is why I’m dropping this track. It is a dance track. You know Azonto Style now.

Where do you coin the title of that song from?
Pon D Replay is like replaying the song on the CD.

How did you get that inspiration?
Well, I believe anything you want to do, it is by God’s doing. God gave me the inspiration. Without God, this could not have been possible. Anything around me, I put it into music.

Aside the first track, which one do you have again?
I have Pretty Girl. The previous one I did was Molenu Gan.

Are we looking forward to hear the album releasing in the market so soon?
Yes, let us be looking at next year by the grace of God.

How many tracks are we looking at?
We are looking at twelve tracks.

Apart from music, what other thing are you doing?
I’m not doing anything than music. Music is my life. Music is business for me. We are doing the music and the business side.
