(Interview) My Father’s Name Has Opened Doors For Me -Gabriel Afolayan @Richard

Gabriel-Afolayan

Gabriel Afolayan in this chat opened up on how his father’s name has opened doors for him in the entertainment industry.

Read On:

Is there a difference between Gabriel Afolayan, the actor and G-Fresh, the musician?

Gabriel Afolayan is my name and G-Fresh is my nickname. I do not necessarily consider G-Fresh my stage name; the brand remains Gabriel Afolayan, whether for movies or music. Gabriel and G-Fresh are the same and there is no dual personality.

Some people see music as a means of making extra income; would that be the reason you ventured into music?

I could make money from it too as an added trade, but the ultimate reason lies in my passion for it. It is a feeling that I have carried with me for a long time. I am grateful to God about it. It is a dream come true. I love music.

How do you handle the fame that comes with the job?

I have been around for some time now. God’s wisdom and grace have been with me and are still there.

Your father and brothers are quite famous, have their names opened doors for you?

Yes, their names have opened doors for me. That is part of my pedigree, but my credibility has also played its own part.

Which do you love more between music and movies?

I love them both because they are two sides to my coin. They both share my being and I care for them both. As I look after my acting, I’m also very passionate about my music; from conception to delivery.

You have won some awards, did you expect to get to this point or be successful at this point in your career?

I have some accolades to my credit for both acting and music. Some of them include Best Actor in a Supporting Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards 2013, The Rising Star at the Nollywood Movies Awards, Best Actor in a supporting role at the Nollywood Movies Awards 2103, Best Actor in a leading role at the Best of Nollywood Awards, Best New Act 2012 at the DYNAMIX Awards, and Most Promising Act at the Yoruba Movies Academy Awards. I have always prayed to be this successful and even more, but I believe I am still on a journey. Hopefully, a joyous ending lies ahead.

What is the message you intend to pass across to your audience through music?

A free-spirited and inspiring message is key to making good music. In terms of rhythm, melody, and lyrics, I intend to bring a good message at all times, even in my commercial songs.

How do you intend to remain relevant in the music industry?

I know I have a style and that is most essential. If I do any type of song, one will surely know it is me singing. In the very competitive music market, I know I have a place for my style to shine. My sound is called ‘the alternative sound’. I love soul music and intend to explore my music depth. Also, I want to let people know that I have a flip side in music. That is my jive part where all the commercial vibes lie. People should not be surprised if I release some metallic dancehall.

The news went viral that you did not scale through the audition for Shuga; how did that make you feel at that point?

I am only human and I felt sad about the misinformation. I was called to have my cloth measurements taken and this was after the audition had taken place. I do not know what happened and when the news came out, I tried to find out what went wrong. The truth is MTV didn’t know about the news and of course it was some funny dude trying to get at me. It was an attack on my person because nothing like that happened.

How do you plan to manage competition in the music industry?

Keeping up with the hustle is what the hustle requires. We are in it already and we would see how far we can go with it, and with God being my strength.

What is your opinion about marriage and love?

Marriage and love are the best things that can happen to any human being. Love is interesting and for anybody, it should be fulfilling. Nothing gives greater joy than this. Even when things go wrong with regard to making ends meet, you can run back home where love lives and get the best succour of life. You sleep, wake up and life continues. Marriage and love are sweet. It is part of God’s blessings for all, if we get it right.

Do you have any guilty indulgence?

Every human being does, but this is not the right avenue to lay them out.

How do you unwind?

I read, listen to soft music or go swimming to relax my muscles so they can remain flexible.

What does style mean to you and how do you like to dress?

Simplicity works for me. I do not like too many details on my fabric or the way it is sewn. I like to dress simple and I get inspired by it through the things I do.

(Sports News) Guardiola Revels In Wolfsburg Slip As Bayern Extends Lead @Richard

Guardiola revels in Wolfsburg slip as Bayern extend lead

The Bavarians took advantage of their title rivals’ shock defeat to Augsburg to move another step closer to retaining the Bundesliga

Pep Guardiola admitted he was delighted to see Wolfsburg slip up on Saturday after watching his Bayern Munich side dismantle Hannover 3-1 to move 11 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga.

The Bavarians came from behind to secure victory, with Xabi Alonso equalising and Thomas Muller netting a double to ensure they capitalised on Wolfsburg’s 1-0 loss at Augsburg.

“Hannover had a great defence, so it was very difficult for us,” said Guardiola. “Because Wolfsburg has got no points, it’s a great weekend for us. On Sunday we will rest and on Monday we think of the Champions League and Shakhtar Donetsk.”

Muller’s first of the afternoon came from the penalty spot after the referee gave a penalty when Robert Lewandowski was kicked in the face by Marcelo’s boot as the striker attempted to head home inside the area.

It was a decision that was contested fiercely by the home side, but Muller duly stepped up and dispatched his spot-kick away with ease past a familiar face in Germany team-mate Ron-Robert Zieler.

The Germany attacker added: “We shoot in training and with the national team I’ve practiced a few penalties, so Ron-Robert Zieler knows me a bit – but apparently not well enough! I just think where I will shoot before I take the penalty and then don’t change my mind and today it worked.”

(Sports News) We Feel Sick To Our Stomachs-Isco @Richard

Isco: We feel sick to our stomachs

After dropping points for the second game in a row for Real Madrid, Barcelona can go top of the table but Isco feels his side can recover

Real Madrid midfielder Isco admitted that his side’s defeat to Athletic Bilbao gave them a bad feeling in their stomachs but insists they can regain control of La Liga by beating Barcelona in a fortnight.

After being held to a 1-1 draw at home to Villarreal last weekend, Los Blancos suffered a 1-0 loss at Athletic on Saturday, meaning second-placed Barcelona can go top of the Primera Division by beating mid-table Rayo Vallecano at Camp Nou on Sunday.

Isco confessed after the game at San Mames that Madrid’s players are struggling to explain their sudden slump in form but the attacking midfielder remains adamant that they can quickly turn things around.

“We leave here with a bad feeling in our stomachs because this is now two straight games without a win and that is a real shame,” the Spain international told reporters.

“Lately we have been lacking a bit of freshness up front and that is not normal for Real Madrid, but it is a matter of phases.

“Things aren’t going that well now but that’s certain to change.

“The league is difficult but it is long and we’ll go to Camp Nou in a couple of weeks with all the enthusiasm in the world. It is a decisive match.

“The team is physically well, so that’s not an excuse. Things are a little bad now but this happens from time to time.

“Teams go up and down and changing the situation depends on the players. Our duty is to go back to the way we were playing before.”

Madrid face Schalke in the Champions League and Levante in La Liga before travelling to Catalunya on March 22 for their crunch clash with Barca.

(Polls) 25,000 Pastors Hold Prayers For Buhari In Lagos @Richard

25,000 pastors and evangelists in the South-West are to hold a special prayer session for the presidential candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, and his running mate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, on Tuesday, at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.

According to the coordinator of the programme, Bishop Kayode Williams, the ministers of God will come together to seek divine support for Buhari and Osinbajo.

Williams, who revealed that the spiritual exercise, tagged “Divine Restoration of Nigeria Glory”, is being organized to disabuse the minds of Nigerians about the wrong impression being created about Buhari. “We are four spearheading this prayer session: My humble self, Rev. Moses Iloh, Archbishop Magnus Atilade and Deacon Ayo Opadokun. We are against wrong information being fed members of the public about Buhari.

catholic buhariFor those of us that followed the track record of Buhari while he was in public service, we know that this man is not a religious bigot. Buhari  is an upright man and not anti-Christ as some people want to portray him,” he declared.

While describing the prayer session as a unique event, Williams implored Nigerians not to use religion to confuse people or to divide Nigerians.
“First and foremost, we should see ourselves as one. We are all Nigerians. We should not allow politics to divide us or cause bitterness among us. We should love one another. It is wrong for anybody or group to say Christians are against Buhari – to us, Buhari is a righteous Nigerian, and Christianity preaches righteousness, and we want righteous people in leadership, and this is why we are organizing this prayer for Buhari to be the next leader of this country”, he stated.

While reminding Nigerians that the country is a secular state, Williams implored Nigerians to be tolerant of one another’s faith, views and opinions.

The cleric  revealed that the programme will have in attendance as special guests Buhari, and Osinbajo and other eminent personalitie
