How GTB, Mastercard officials, seven others to testify at Naira Marley’s trial

Image result for Naira MarleyAs information hitting Fujiipop desk revealed, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is set to present nine witnesses in its case against musician Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley.

According to court documents by E F C C the witnesses would give evidence of their investigation, tender exhibits and reveal their findings to the court.

Three of the witnesses were said to have taken the defendant’s and witnesses’ statements.

The remaining are representatives of Mastercard, Visa Inc and Guaranty Trust Bank, who are expected to tender relevant card and account details of the defendant to the court.

The artiste was arrested on May 10 at 9 Gbangbala Street, Ikate, Lekki, Lagos, together with Omomniyi Temidayo (aka Zlatan Ibile) and three others for alleged advance fee fraud.

After his arrest, the anti-graft agency filed 11 charges against Naira Marley bordering on alleged cybercrime and identity theft.

The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act, which the artiste risks seven years in jail if found guilty.

Section 33 (2) of the Act, which Naira Marley was accused of contravening reads, “Any person who uses: a counterfeit access device; an unauthorised access device; an access device issued to another person; resulting in a loss or gain commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not more than seven years or a fine of not more than N5,000,000.00 and forfeiture of the advantage or value derived from his act.”

The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court.

Ten days after his arrest, Naira Marley was arraigned before Justice Nicholas Oweibo of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos.

Justice Oweibo ordered that the artiste be remanded in custody until May 30 to take the bail application filed by the defendant’s counsel, Mrs Taiwo Oreagba.

He was subsequently granted bail to the tune of N2m.

According to court documents obtained by The PUNCH, the EFCC has listed nine witnesses to testify against the artiste at his trial.

Oritsefemi electrifies Portharcourt with community tour

His maiden concert tagged community tour which was held Sunday, 26th May 2019 was a success in Portharcourt, River State.

Aztech Arcum, Stadium Road, Port harcourt was jam-packed with lots of stars and fans who came out massively to watch the one in town event.

The event started on the light mood with Kuti Mayana, Arred, Telesy and other next rated stars kicking off the show.

At the pick of the event, King Wada , Efe (Big Brother Naija) fame, Charles Okocha lighted up the venue with lots of energetic performances.

D J Neptune took over with scintillating performances. The crowd was agog with lots of dancing steps. Harrysong, Seyi Law, Yungsam, MC Shakara proved to the audience that they were talented artistes. They were wonderful on the stage with great performances.

Oritsefemi was later introduced. He dazzled the crowd with great music. Double Wahala, Igbeyawo, Radi, Ongbalarami and Nakam were songs he dished out to the great audience.

The celebrant however called Muma Gee who hailed from Portharcout to round off performances.

The double wahala fame, Oritsefemi revealed that this event is a new innovation by his new team to excite his fans who have been there for him since he started music in Nigeria. “ Oritsefemi Community Tour is a new initiative by me and my team. A lot people have not seen Oritsefemi in their hood for a long time. Now, I’m bringing my music to them. Nigeria music is not about Lagos alone. Our findings revealed that Port Harcourt loves Oritsefemi so much. This is the reason we are kicking off the event here. We appreciate fans who came out to support us. Portharcout is a great experience for me. We are taking this event to lots of cities in Nigeria. Even northerners will enjoy part of it. We are working hard on the logistics. I will never disappoint you. The next stop could be Calabar, venue will be announced soon” , Oritsefemi said.

Mane focus eyes on Champions League not Real Madrid links

Image result for sadio maneSadio Mane admits he is flattered by suggested interest from Real Madrid but insists he is happy at Liverpool and fully focused on trying to help them win the Champions League.

Reports from Spain in recent weeks have suggested that Real want to bring the Senegal forward and Manchester United’s French midfielder Paul Pogba to the Bernabeu.

Mane will be in action across the city on Saturday, at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano home, which will host the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham.

The 27-year-old has scored 17 goals in 24 matches for his club since the turn of the year, and is expected to lead his country’s attack in Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, which starts in late June.

How Pregnant woman, nine others injured during stampede at Ihedioha’s inauguration

Related imageIt has been reported that at least 10 people, including a pregnant woman, were injured in a stampede during the inauguration of Imo State Governor Emeka Ihedioha’s on Wednesday in Owerri.

A member of the medical team for the inauguration, Dr Francis Igwe, confirmed the figure to the News Agency of Nigeria in Owerri.

The stampede resulted from a huge crowd which besieged the  Dan Anyiam Stadium, venue of the  inauguration, Igwe said, however, that the victims were revived.

He told NAN that the medical team led by Dr Vin Udokwu were proactive to handle the situation.

“When we saw the crowd, we suspected that there may be an emergency situation; we quickly put our personnel and equipment together just to get ready,” he said.

Members of the Red Cross Society were also seen assisting in rescue operations during the stampede.

Before the inauguration, a woman had fainted and was carried away from the field by the medical personnel on a stretcher.

Igwe said that all situations were controlled.
