What Emmanuel Amuneke said after Tanzania sacked him

After being sacked as coach of the Tanzanian football team by the Tanzanian Football Federation on Monday, Nigerian football legend, Emmanuel Amuneke has finally spoken about the circumstances that led to his dismissal.

“We talked about our contract, we looked at contents, and of course, there is always a common ground.

“They (TFF) say they want an indigenous coach. And of course, this business is about coming and going.

“I’m happy with my players, I’m proud of their achievement even in defeat. Morocco coach was relieved of his duty. Same also for Egyptian coach and Uganda. That’s how it goes and one has to move forward.

“I was somewhere before I came here (Tanzania) and of course, life is not static, it evolves so one has to think forward.”

Amuneke guided Tanzania to its first AFCON since 1980. The Taifa Stars were eliminated after failing to win a single game in the on-going Africa Cup of Naions in Egypt.

Before becoming the coach of the Taifa Stars in 2018, Amuneke coached Nigeria,s under 17 world cup winning side of 2015. He was also the coach of Al Khartoum SC in November 2017, and left in March 2018.

How Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo spirit hunt sacked Punch Editor, Martin Ayankola

Punch Newspaper sacks longest-serving editor,?Martin Ayankola over offensive cartoon on Pastor Fatoyinbo

It was widely reported that COZA allegedly rape pastor, Biodun Fatoyinbo’s spirit has hunted Punch Editor, Martin Ayankola.

Punch Newspaper sacked Martin Ayankola, following outrage over a controversial cartoon published last Thursday.
It was gathered that Ayankola, who was appointed on December 2012, is the longest-serving editor in the 46 years history of The PUNCH.

The newspaper had on July 4th published an article on its back page by Abimbola Adelakun with the title “What Does Mrs. Fatoyinbo Know”. The article, which examined the rape allegations against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA) was illustrated with the cartoon of a man desecrating the bible with urine.
Punch had therefore apologized after the cartoon was greeted with backlash. An emergency meeting was convened by the board on Monday where Ayankola was ordered to resign before the close of work. The editor had only returned from a one-week suspension before the cartoon saga.
It is also suggested that the columnist and the chairman of the editorial board could be affected by the board’s decision. According to reports, Punch management had been shopping for Ayankola’s replacement for a while.

Super Eagles Coach, Rohr thick Bafana Bafana for trophy

Image result for gernot rohrNigeria head coach Gernot Rohr claims Bafana Bafana are firm favourites to lift the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations following their impressive 1-0 win against Egypt in the Round of 16.

South Africa pulled off the unthinkable last Saturday when they dumped hosts Egypt out of the competition in front of 75, 000 fans at the Cairo International Stadium.

And Rohr feels their remarkable exploits deserve respect, explaining why their achievements surpass their last-16 win over champions Cameroon.

“We saw the game with Egypt against South Africa and we know South Africa well because they were in our group competing for the qualifiers,” he said at the pre-match press conference.

“To beat Egypt, in this circumstance, up against a good team with one of the best players in Africa (Mohamed Salah), it will make them full of confidence.

“They (Bafana Bafana) deserved to win because they were the better team and now for me, if you beat the favourite number one in Egypt, you become the new favourites.”

Rohr added, “We also had a good game against Cameroon, we also have confidence, so we should be expecting a match of high quality.

“I think the strength of our team is the unity and the fighting spirit — and even against South Africa, which has suddenly become the new favourites of the tournament.

“We also have confidence after scoring three goals (against Cameroon) against a team who did not concede a goal in the group stage, so we’re confident also, but for me South Africa in the favourites.”

Bafana take on the Super Eagles on Wednesday evening at the Cairo International Stadium.
