How Popular Singer, Danny Young reconciled with Tiwa Savage over copy infringement out of court

Image result for danny youngTop music singer cum producer, Danny Young is in the news again. The veteran song writer, singer, music producer, record label owner, entrepreneur and brand ambassador who hails from Owo local government in Ondo State in Nigeria has unveiled his other side music buffs don’t know about him.

In case you don’t know, he is one of the first few teenage artistes to gain prominence even before the social media Era. As a kid, he was a member of the Children’s choir in the church which gave him the privilege to nurture and glorify his passions; as well as learn the mastery of the piano and the drums, which gave birth to the beginning of his musical career with music production as a plus.

He came into prominence in 2006 after releasing his first hit song “Welcome” featuring Lord of Ajasa from his first debut album “The One” which was released under the platform of BigDeal Entertainment. The song became a banger, causing a stunning impact in Africa, especially in Nigeria and South Africa thereby getting him on top of the Channel O music chat for several months, making it one of the first Nigerian hip hop music to be heavily rotated in that manner on such music channel which was one of the biggest TV platforms in Africa at that time.

In the wake of his success, he continued to push himself further in the musical limelight which gave birth to the collaboration with Klever Jay in the hit song “Koni koni Love” one of the biggest afro pop evergreen songs till date.

Over time, Danny young has consistently fed his fans with genius hits upon hits, fact proven through his string of songs produced; like the “Ojutiwon” in 2009 which is also an evergreen victory song that people sing for jubilation after every success or breakthrough. The Ojutiwon is also an ever green song and one of the biggest songs off his 2nd album “Cross Over” which was released off Fliptyce Entertainment in 2009.

The song Omo lepa” featuring Olamide was released by Danny in 2013. It was one of the tightest collaboration at that time thereby putting Danny young ahead in his music game. Other hit songs by Danny Young includes Kunle Ole , Coded and Big Alhaji feat Slimcase.

He was featured in the Star Quest reality TV show as a producer for one of the contesting bands in 2011.

Danny Young became a Youth ambassador In Ondo State, and has been in the fore front when it comes to issues concerning Youths development in the state.

Danny Young has two albums to his credit and an E.P. His first album titled “The One” which featured Sauce kid, Lord of Ajasa and the likes of other creative artists including his elder brother Ajibola Samuel Oluseyi AKA Keyman was released in 2007. The second album is “Cross Over” which was released in 2009 under the platform of Fliptyce Entertainment. It featured A list artiste as at that time which includes Olu Maintain, Paul Ik Dairo, Kel, , Klever Jay, Keyman etc.

In 2010, Danny Young established his own record label known has Beatkilla Records in partnership with his brother, Ajibola Samuel Oluseyi AKA Keyman. His 6 tracker E.P which was released under the said Record Company in 2017 has the Omo Lepa hit song feat Olamide included in it.

Danny Young is presently working on his third album which would be released in few months time. He is also set on releasing singles featuring some other current “A” list artistes and the songs are billed to be part of the 3rd Album.

Ajibola Olumuyiwa Danladi AkA Danny Young is from the Royal Family of Ogunoye being a direct grand son to Oba Adekola Ogunoye ii and Nephew to Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye iii, the present King of Owo Kingdom.

Findings have it that Funmi Aragbaye, the popular Nigerian Gospel Singer is the wife to Danny Young’s first cousin once removed.

Danny Young is the first popular Nigerian hip hop artiste that has followed up his copyright claims against a fellow popular artiste, with a lawsuit. Others we have heard of have been more of blurf.

In November 22nd, 2018, Danny Young called out Mavin Record’s Tiwa Savage for infringing on his copyright, alleging that the pop queen used parts of the content off his 2009 evergreen record, ‘Oju Tiwon’, to make her newly released single, ‘One’

When there was no remorse shown by neither Tiwa Savage nor Mavin Records, Danny Young decided to file a law suit through his lawyers Creative Legal.

The lawsuit (Suit No: FHC/L/CS/230/2019) was filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on February 13, 2019. Mr Justin Ige, of Creative Legal, claims the sum of N200 million in damages against the defendants for copyright violation.

He is also claiming N5 million as cost of action, as well as demanding an account for profits accrued to the defendants from the use of the infringing musical work titled ‘ONE’. The Federal High Court in Lagos later fixed November 5 2019 for hearing in the suit filed by Danny Young.

At the resumed hearing on Nov 5 2019, Danny Young’s lawyer, Justin Ige, informed the court that the respondents (Tiwa Savage & Mavin Records) have reached out to his client and have requested that the case be settled out of court. Mr Ige informed Justice Mohammed Liman that talks have begun between parties. He also said he would love a short adjournment to enable them to update the court on the progress made out of court. The lawyer to the respondents, however, told the court that a longer date is preferable to ensure that all parties have significant progress to report to the court. Justice Liman then adjourned the matter to December 3 for update on the out of court settlement.

As of the 20th of November 2019, Danny Young took to his instagram account displaying a press statement which shows the discontinuation of the law suit and that both his camp and that of Tiwa Savage have resolved the issues.

Man City announce record £535m revenue amid ongoing UEFA financial investigation

The club’s on-field success in both the men’s and women’s games has been reflected by another set of healthy financial results

Manchester City have announced a club-record £535.2 million ($692.3m) revenue and a £10.1 million ($13.1m) profit as part of their 2018-19 annual report.

The figures represent the 11th consecutive year of growth and the fifth consecutive year of profit under the ownership of Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed. City also revealed a wage/revenue ratio of 59%.

The Premier League champions last week had their appeal against UEFA’s investigation into alleged breaches of Financial Fair Play (FFP) thrown out by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), with the results of the investigation still to come.

City’s improved figures come after another year of sporting success on the field for both the club’s men’s and women’s teams.

Despite both sides failing to make an impact on the European stage, City’s men won an unprecedented domestic treble of the Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup, plus the Community Shield at the start of the campaign under Pep Guardiola.

City’s women, led by Nick Cushing, won an FA Cup and Continental Cup double, but were beaten to the Women’s Super League title by Arsenal.

However, despite City eclipsing neighbours Manchester United on the field, the figures are still some way short of the £627.1 million ($811.8m) revenue figure announced by United in September. However, United’s turnover is set to fall as a result of their failure to qualify for the Champions League, while further growth is projected for City.

City’s financial performance was boosted by a huge new kit deal with Puma. Replacing former kit providers Nike, the deal was worth £650 million ($841.2m) over a 10-year period.

In a statement released by the club, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: “This outcome represents not just a season, but a decade of hard work.

“The organisation is now at a level of maturity that enables us to plan on multi-year cycles both in terms of our management of squads and more widely across the business.

“This strategic planning has allowed us to create an environment in which continued on-pitch success is both possible and likely, and financial sustainability is a reality.”

CEO Ferran Soriano, meanwhile, added: “Victories are not accidents; they are the product of careful planning, consistent hard work and the acknowledgement of the need to stay humble and hungry.”
