Ronaldo Rescues Point For Real Madrid Vs Athletic BilbaoReal Madrid should thank Christiano Ronaldo for his amazing efforts last night.

Real Madrid were held to a 1-1 draw at home to Athletic Bilbao in Wednesday’s Spanish LaLiga clash at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored an 87th minute equaliser to cancel out Inaki Williams’ delightful 14th minute goal for Athletic Bilbao, who got their first point at the Santiago Bernabeu in 12 games.

Despite going a goal down early in the game, Real Madrid did not relent in their search for an equaliser as they piled pressure.

But Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga made outstanding saves to keep the Los Blancos out until the 87th minute.

Cristiano Ronaldo flicked in Luka Modric’s shot past Arrizabalaga for his 24th league goal of the season.

Real Madrid 2 Barcelona 3: Neymar Pique Messi scores

Barcelona celebrate a goal against Real Madrid

Goal from Ivan Rakitic, Lionel Messi and Gerard Pique helped Barcelona to Clasico success and the ICC trophy on Saturday.

Barcelona claimed the International Champions Cup after prevailing 3-2 in a thrilling Clasico encounter against bitter rivals Real Madrid.

The United States edition of the pre-season tournament went to Barca thanks to Lionel Messi, Ivan Rakitic and Gerard Pique in Miami on Saturday amid the growing uncertainty over Neymar’s future at Camp Nou.

It was far from a friendly clash at Hard Rock Stadium as Barca and LaLiga-Champions League titleholders Madrid went head-to-head on American soil, the former storming out the blocks.

Goals from Rakitic and Messi put Barca 2-0 up inside seven minutes but Mateo Kovacic reduced the deficit shortly after and Marco Asensio equalised nine minutes before half-time.

Gerard Pique restored Barca’s lead in the 50th minute as Barca beat Manchester City to the ICC trophy, while Madrid ended the tournament without a victory.

Sergio Ramos took to the field for the first time during pre-season as Zinedine Zidane named his strongest XI minus the absent Cristiano Ronaldo and Toni Kroos, with Gareth Bale, Marcelo, Karim Benzema and Luka Modric headlining the side.

Barca also fielded a strong line-up, Ernesto Valverde including Paris Saint-Germain target Neymar, Messi, Luis Suarez, Iniesta and Pique.

There was an early scare as Neymar hobbled off the field in the second minute with an apparent ankle injury but he made his way back onto the pitch as Barca broke the deadlock.

Messi dribbled into the box, cut past Modric and curled the ball past Keylor Navas, albeit with some help from a deflection.

It got better for Barca four minutes later when Rakitic drilled a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

Neymar used the outside of his boot to flick the ball to Suarez, who dummied it through to Rakitic and the Croatian finished powerfully to leave Madrid stunned.

Out of sorts early, Madrid managed to halt Barcelona’s momentum against the run of play after Kovacic arrowed a fierce shot past Jasper Cillessen in the 15th minute.

Neymar almost got in on the action following Suarez’s run out wide but the Brazil international’s shot went just wide of the post after his dizzying control to beat Raphael Varane.

Madrid continued to live dangerously as Messi weaved his way into the penalty area, however Navas was quick to deny the Argentine star.

But Madrid capitalised on the counter-attack to draw level in the 36th minute after Asensio played the ball to Kovacic and received it back before finishing coolly inside the near post.

Barca reclaimed the lead five minutes into the second half as Neymar and team-mate Pique linked up.

After a winning the free-kick, Neymar whipped in a teasing delivery and an unmarked Pique lost his opponent before volleying into the net.

It should have been a fourth for Barca in the 55th minute after Neymar rounded Navas but he fired wide following some fancy work from Messi, while Suarez was denied by the Costa Rican moments later and Samuel Umtiti had his shot cleared off the line.

At the other end, Isco drove forward and tried to find the bottom corner but Cillessen used his outstretched arm to keep Barca ahead.

Gerard Pique and wife not invited to Lionel Messi’s wedding

Football stars, Gerard Pique and Lionel Messi, have won every club trophy there is to win as Barcelona teammates, but that doesn’t mean the defender is invited to the Argentine’s wedding.

According to Spanish newspaper El Pais, the reason is because of an issue between Messi’s fiance Antonella Roccuzzo and Pique’s wife international pop star Shakira. The Barca players’ partners are reportedly not friends after Pique ended a relationship in 2010 with previous girlfriend Nuria Tomas, who is very close to Messi’s Fiance, Roccuzzo. Now El Pais has reported that Pique and Shakira aren’t invited to the wedding, which is set for June 24, 2017

Trending: Luis Enrique quits FC Barcelona in June

Image result for Luis EnriqueThe fans of FC Barcelona will be sorry for manager Luis Enrique. The former Spain player on Sunday confirmed he would step down at the end of the season.

The 46-year-old, in his third season in charge of Barca, was speaking after their 6-1 win over Sporting Gijon on Wednesday night.

He won the Champions League as part of the treble in his first year, and led them to a domestic double last season.

But they are on the verge of elimination from the Champions League, after losing 4-0 to Paris St-Germain in the last-16 first leg.

“It is a difficult, measured and well thought-out decision and I think I have to be loyal to what I think,” he said.

“I would like to thank the club for the confidence they have shown in me. It’s been three unforgettable years.”

Barca’s win over Sporting took them to the top of La Liga, a point above Real Madrid.

Real Madrid had forced a 3-3 draw away to Las Palmas in a late Wednesday night fixture, but they still have a game in hand.

Former Spain midfielder Enrique played for FC Barcelona between 1996 and his retirement from playing in 2004.

He then coached their B team from 2008 to 2011, returning to the club as first-team boss after spells managing Roma and Celta Vigo.

Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: “Luis Enrique has brought us great success and he can still bring us more. The players are motivated to do it.

“We accept Luis Enrique’s decision. He has been a great coach. Now is it time to end his spell in the best possible way.”

Granada 1-3 Barcelona: Messi, Suarez and Rakitic fire visitors to victory

The Catalan side built on their midweek win over Manchester City by comfortably seeing off the challenge of Saturday’s hosts

Luis Suarez’s hot streak continued on Saturday as the Uruguayan inspired Barcelona’s 3-1 win over Granada in La Liga.

The former Liverpool star, who netted twice in Wednesday’s 2-1 Champions League triumph at Manchester City, scored his fourth goal in as many matches and had a hand in two more, ensuring Barca bounced back from their shock 1-0 defeat to Malaga last weekend.

Suarez played a crucial role in Barca’s first, setting up Ivan Rakitic for an easy finish with just under half-an-hour played at Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes.

And the pair switched roles at the start of the second half, as the Croatia playmaker teed up Suarez to open a two-goal lead.

Granada swiftly responded, as Fran Rico buried a 53rd-minute penalty, but the Catalans killed off any hopes of a revival in the 70th minute, with Lionel Messi tapping in for his 27th league goal of the season following more impressive play by Suarez.

The visitors had no problems holding on to their lead and they could have made the victory even more comfortable, but regardless of missing late chances, the triumph sees Barca move back to within a point of Real Madrid, who face Villarreal on Sunday.
