Tianjin TEDA signed Ideye’s Nigerian teammate  Mikel  Obi from Chelsea during the January transfer window and they are now hoping to add Ideye as their latest marquee signing.

Chinese Super League clubs are scouring all over the world for new players before their transfer window closes later this week, ahead of the start of the new season next month.

Tianjin TEDA  have been searching for a new striker to finalise their squad ahead of the new season and have targeted a move for Ideye.

The 28-year-old was West Brom’s then-record club signing when he joined them in 2014 from Dynamo Kiev, but he failed to hit the heights at the Hawthorns.

Ideye scored seven goals in 31 appearances in all competitions for West Brom before he left to join Olympiakos, and he has got his career back in track in Greece.

The powerful striker scored 13 goals in his debut season to help Olympiakos win the Greek Super League and he has surpassed that this season with 15 goals in all competitions.

Trending: Mikel signs £140,000 per week with Chinese club Tianjin TEDA, writes Chelsea fans

Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi has become the latest ex- Premier League star to make a big-money move to Chinese Super League after completing his medicals with Tianjin TEDA yesterday.

Details of the deal were not announced but Mikel is thought to have left Chelsea on a free transfer with his contract to expire in June.

The Super Eagles star did not play a single minute for Chelsea in the current season, with Antonio Conte preferring N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic, Nathaniel Chalobah and Cesc Fabregas ahead of the Nigerian.

Mikel joined Chelsea from Norway’s Lyn Oslo in July 2006 after a transfer wrangle with Manchester United was eventually settled. He made 372 appearances, scored six goals and won two Premier League titles as well as the UEFA Champions League and Europa League. conteAnother speculated news has emerged on Mikel Obi’s transfer. Chelsea boss, Antonio Conte has revealed that there are no concrete news regarding the purported exit of John Mikel Obi in the January transfer window.

The 29 year old Nigeria international has been heavily linked to Spanish side Valencia having met with the Sporting Director of the club, Jesus Garcia Pitarch on Christmas day in London.

“For now, we have no news,” the Italian replied when quizzed on Mikel’s situation during his pre-match conference non Tuesday.

Conte who spoke ahead of his side’s derby clash against Tottenham Hotspurs at White Hart Lane on Wednesday declared that all his players were fully fit for the clash as he aims to record a 14th straight win in the English Premier League.

“No, me, the players, we want to win to take three points,” he added.

“The record, I repeat, is a great achievement above all because after these 13 wins in a row we took 39 points. The other situations are not important for us.

“This type of game gives you great motivation. Now every team wants to stop our run, not only Tottenham.

“If you see the table, we have only five points more than second-placed Liverpool, and seven points more than Manchester City, and, if Arsenal beat Bournemouth today, we are only six points from them.”

Conte continued: “The league is very open, and we are only in the first game of the second part of the season.

“Tomorrow we know we will have a really tough game against Tottenham.

“If after the game we have eight points more than the second team we will be pleased, but this league is very tough and you can lose points any game.”

With the return of Pedro, Conte said he was pleased with the selection headache once again.

“I like to have my players in good form and then make the best choice for the game,” he explained.

“I prefer to have this problem. For sure now we have Pedro, Willian, Hazard and Costa in good form and good shape.

“I have to decide the starting XI, but I think you win the game in 95 minutes, and it’s important to have all my players available, and above all in good form.”
