Ronaldo wins FIFA Best Footballer of the Year Award

Portugal football Captian and Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a staggering 2016 and has now been awarded the title of the best player in the world, beating Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann

The Star player crowned the world’s best player at FIFA’s annual awards gala in Zurich.

“It’s a great feeling, as I mentioned many times last year was a dream year, no doubt about that,” the striker said at the ceremony shortly before receiving the prize.

“Real Madrid win the Champions League and the national team won the Euros for the first time in history. Unbelievable season. I’m so proud and happy.

“I have to say thank you to my team-mates of Real Madrid, and team-mates of Portugal and the coaches. It was an amazing year.”

Ronaldo scored a total of 59 goals for both club and country throughout the 12 months, as his career reached new heights.

The Portugal international, despite suffering an injury in the final, guided his country to Euro 2016 glory, scoring three goals and cajoling his team-mates from the sidelines after being stretchered off.

Eder’s late goal ensured that Ronaldo lifted the trophy in France, with Griezmann – the player to outscore him in the tournament – on the losing side in the showpiece.

Ronaldo also scored the winning penalty in the Champions League final, as Real defeated Griezmann’s Atletico at San Siro in Milan, and was rewarded with a staggering new deal until 2021.

The 31-year-old’s incredible year – which also saw him named the world’s highest paid sports star – was capped in December, when he was awarded his fourth Ballon d’Or award.

While Messi, the man who has forever threatened to overshadow Ronaldo during an era of individual footballing dominance, scored a sensational 55 goals throughout 2016, he was topped by four goals by Ronaldo, though he did guide Barcelona to La Liga glory.

Incredible! How Pastor Adeboye was saved by a witch

This is unbelievable . But it is true. Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has disclosed how God used a witch to save his life when he was still a youngman.

Adeboye, in a thanksgiving and Prophetic Declaration Service at the church national headquarters, Throne of Grace Parish in Ebute-Meta, Lagos, narrated that God used the witch to stop him from eating kola nut which would have led to his death.In a sermon entitled: “God Loves Me” the clergyman attributed his continued survival to God’s faithfulness and love.

Politics Trending: Buhari vows to rescue Chibok girls

Many people might not believe President Muhammadu Buhari that he will end the era of Boko Haram in Nigeria when he campaign before election. His government has captured Sambiza forest for real.

His government has found some kidnapped Chibok Girls. This is coming to reality. And he has restated the Federal Government’s commitment to securing the release of the remaining pupils of Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, abducted by Boko Haram insurgents.

This was contained in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, on the occasion of 1,000th day of the girls’ abduction.

He said: “We are grateful to God that on this landmark day, we are not completely in the depths of despair, but buoyed with hope that our daughters will yet rejoin their families and loved ones.

“Three of them have been recovered by our diligent military, while the freedom of 21 others was secured through engagement with their captors. We are hopeful that many more will still return as soon as practicable.”

The President reiterated that the government would not spare any effort to reunite the girls with their families.

“I salute the fortitude of the distraught parents. As a parent also, I identify with their plight. Days turned to weeks, weeks turned to months, months turned to years, and today, it is 1,000 days. The tears never dry, the ache is in our hearts. But hope remains constant, eternal, and we believe our pains will be assuaged. Our hopes will not be shattered and our hearts will leap for joy, as more and more of our daughters return. It is a goal we remain steadfastly committed to,” the President stated.

He hailed those who have been in the vanguard for the recovery of the girls, both nationally and internationally, adding: “Someday soon, we will all rejoice together. Our intelligence and security forces are unrelenting, and whatever it takes, we remain resolute.

“Chibok community, Nigeria, and, indeed, the world, will yet rise in brotherhood, to welcome our remaining girls back home. We trust God for that eventuality.”
