He defeated his main opponent, Femi Gbajiabiamila. Interestingly, both men are from the APC. While Gbajabiamila was endorsed by the APC, Yakubu like Bukola Saraki, was endorsed by members of the PDP last night. Change!!!!!!!!!!!

The Speaker of Adamawa State House of Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, has been sworn in as the Acting Governor of the State, following the impeachment of Governor Murtala Nyako.

The impeachment of Nyako, was sequel to the adoption of the four volumes report presented by Kaigama, the chairman of the seven-man panel that investigated allegations of gross misconduct levelled against him and his Deputy, Bala Ngilari.

However, Ngilari, had earlier in the day resigned from office as deputy governor, citing personal reasons.

Nyako and his deputy were found guilty of the 16 allegations of gross misconduct levelled against them.

Consequently, Jerry Kumdisi, moved for the impeachment of the governor and was seconded by Kwamoti Laori.

However it was earlier reported that Governor of Adamawa State, Murtala Nyako, was impeached following approval of the report of the seven-man panel that investigated him and his deputy, Bala Ngilari.

Reports from Yola on Tuesday, say 18 members of the State House of Assembly out of 25 endorsed the panel report that indicted the governor and his deputy.

Consequently, the State Acting Chief Judge has been directed to swear in the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, pending the conduct of fresh election.

The Deputy Governor, Bala Ngilari, had resigned from office, citing personal reasons before.

it would be recalled that Governor Nyako and and his Deputy, Ngilari, had been served impeachment notice by the lawmakers for gross misconduct and misappropriation of funds.

Sequel to the impeachment notice served on the duo, the State Acting Chief Judge constituted a seven-man panel to investigate the allegations levelled against them.

On Monday, the panel submitted its report to the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Umaru Fintiri, after sitting for two days.

The chairman of the panel, Bala Kigama, while submitting the four volumes report, said both the Governor Nyako and his Deputy, Ngilari, did not appear before the panel.
